Hen doooooo!!!!!

How was your weekend? Mine was FANTASTIC!
Along with 18 other ladies (some of whom i'd never met) I went to Manchester for a great friends hen weekend. We arrived on Friday and stayed at the Midland Hotel. A beautiful hotel which even had a doorman in a top hat! I've stayed at a few hotels before but this was by far the nicest and classiest!

For the Friday night it was pretty tame, out for a few drinks, followed by a meal at the Rustica Italian restaurant, followed by a few more drinks. On Saturday after a great cooked breakfast we headed off to Vibe recording studio. 19 girls screeching 'It's raining men' and 'I wanna dance with somebody' is a mad experience. Kudos to the recording guy, he managed to make it sound pretty good!

After some proper food (burger and chips) in the Rain Bar we got ourselves all dressed up for a proper night out.

Dress code was glam black dress and the hen was to wear a red dress, we then got sashes and tiaras and stepped out in style. Complete with our 'friend' Jon!
So where did we go in all our finery? The Birdcage! If you've never heard of this place you should definitely check it out. The drag acts are amazing!

We had our own tables reserved and the drinks flowed whilst we watched the entertainment. It was a brilliant night which was finished off at about 3.30am as we stumbled back into the hotel clutching our shoes in one hand and a McDonalds in the other!

After what was an expensive, alcohol fueled weekend i'm feeling a little fragile today so I have nothing handmade to offer for Handmade Monday but i'm on my way over to Wendy's blog to check out what everyone else has been up to.
Have a great week,
Until next time

  1. What a brilliant weekend Jem, sounds like you have a really good time. Was the Midland Hotel featured in a television programme many years ago? Hope you have a good week.

  2. Sounds like you had a really great time! The recording studio must have been so much fun. (Hope your head is better!) Have a super week! Mich x

  3. You had a wonderful fun packed filled time and all look so happy or was that the drink flowing?

  4. Sounds like you had a fab time!
I've been to the Midland a few times (sadly not to stay!) and I agree it's a lovely place.

  5. Wow! Sounds like a great weekend. Manchester's the best city for a night out in my completely unbiassed opinion!!!

  6. You can't beat Manchester for a good night out-although I'm ashamed to to say I've never been to The Birdcage! Thanks for your kind comments on my blog last week-I haven't forgotten about the Liebster award-I just need a bit of time to sort it.

  7. Glad to hear you had a good night out! And great way to round it off... Maccy D's... Now I have a craving!

  8. Sounds like a brilliant fun weekend!

  9. It looks like you had a fabulous time - and you all look amazing :) I'm definitely not a 'girly girl' either, so I am hugely impressed at how you all look!! glad you enjoyed it x

  10. Thanks for the lovely comments it really was a weekend to remember. Apparently the Midland hotel is where the Beckhams had their first date and quite a few famous people stay there, I don't know about any TV programs though. Unfortunately I didn't meet any rich, good-looking, famous men there who fell in love with me so its back to work tonight for me! x

  11. Sounds like you had a fab time this weekend. I hope youre nicely recovered now :-)

  12. my god what an awesome weekend!!! Just rest that fragile head of yours now!

  13. Sounds like it was a brilliant week end you all had and a great one to remember.

Hope it didn't take too long to recover.

    Jan x
